I created this piece for the annual Chad Mize show at Greenbench Brewery in St.Petersburg,Fl during Tampa Bay Beer Week.
With the show theme being “Enjoy” , it gave me the perfect opportunity to do one of the things that I enjoy most…painting Florida animals into places they don’t belong and spreading joy doing it. Beyond just making a fun cute piece, there is an added layer of love behind the design choice.
The title really speaks to my love & devotion to this state & the wonders that it holds… it has given me so many life experiences and opportunities that I wouldn’t & couldn’t have had anywhere else, and that has given me strength , confidence, purpose, & the will to keep going…& in my eyes that seems to be very close to what religion can bring to people’s lives (when not being wielded like a weapon towards others ), so I hope that others will resonate and understand where I’m coming from when I share my feelings for Florida.
