"Shoe Bill” is an apex predator that plays by his own rules... and does it in style. I started this piece as a featured artist live painting at @zootampa, and he's gotten a ton of great feedback.
Little known fact (that I just made up and makes sense in my head), that shoebills are sneakerheads by nature... and Bill is no exception! He slid into his favorite pair of comfy kicks to go make his mark on his territory. They make a very distinctive sound when they clack their beaks, like a machine gun...and Bill is all about giving them something to clack about (Keep em' clackin'). They are solitary creatures, and this one has laid claim on Tampa, & is proud to be part of the zoo crew.... these birds are a fan favorite at @zootampa.
