I made this design originally as a sticker, and it has been one of my most well received designs….so it felt only right to make this a real painting and at a very large scale. I created this piece on a 3ftx3ft gallery stretched canvas with acrylics.

This I know how near & dear the Pelican is to St.Pete, so I wanted to design something that said, "I'm local".

I didn’t want to have one of the basic offerings you find over and over in gift shops...no, this design was meant to make a statement. It is a bold design , however it ment to represent history, longevity, strength & support via the visual representation of the bones.... much like fossils, they teach us about the past and represent longevity being left behind after everything else

disappears.

Much like the bones in our bodies give us support and allow us to live and thrive, the people of the city lift up the city and support it, thus the city itself is thriving. Every bone in a skeleton is vital, each doing a unique job, however working together for something greater which is to live... and in a way, we as people are all unique working together for something greater...to live. In my eyes, being as diverse as St.Pete is, this vastly different design is something that's powerful and speaks to that.
